This application provides two levels of protection: you can simply lock the files and folders, or you can encrypt using 256-bit Blowfish algorithm. When you start the program, it will ask a master password. Hitting the Browse link locates and lock folders anywhere on your computer, or you can simply set via the context menu. Encryption is the free version limited to 25 MB.
Although the too-cute-for words interface does not easily found, Lock Folder has a wealth of advanced features, accessible after you press the Options button. You can specify files to be shredded, force the computer to shut down after failed entry attempts, erase document history, clipboard and more, and be in stealth mode, which masks the presence of the application on your computer.
